Information about Vera
Hello everyone!
I am a fully qualified Spanish and French Secondary School Teacher with a BA hons 2.1 in Spanish and English Language from the University of Bergamo and an MA in Foreign Languages for the International Communication from the University of Turin, Italy. I just completed my PGCE course (Spanish and French) here in Bristol. I believe that learning languages should be an exciting journey and a way to explore different cultures and perspectives. I can teach Italian, Spanish and French.
I am passionate about what I do and I am able to help pupils progress in all four language skills as well as allowing them to gain confidence in their own ability.
I AM ONLY DELIVERING ONLINE LESSONS DUE TO CORONAVIRUS EMERGENCY!
Availability: AVAILABLE FOR ONLINE TUTORING DUE TO THE COVID EMERGENCY. Morning and afternoon.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I understand the importance of exam technique, the use of of a variety of learning strategies and the effectiveness of consistent topic revision.
Moreover, I have also gained valuable knowledge of how to deal with a range of abilities. I recognise the importance of pitching lessons correctly: activities need to be engaging and appropriately challenging for the more able. I had the opportunity to work with two Italian NGOs, where I tutored children and teenagers and helped young immigrants fill in their cultural and linguistic gaps in Italian. I learned how to support the integration process of children with learning difficulties and, finally, how to communicate and maintain a good relationship with the school, its teachers and the families of the students. I am passionate about travelling, in fact, after completing my degree, I began teaching English at Colegio Domingo Faustino Sarmiento public school in Bogotá, Colombia to both primary and secondary students. I was impressed by their desire to learn even though their lives were often in turmoil due to instability in the area.
