I am a 35 Yr old mum of one, with a career in science and a passion for teaching. I think science is wonderful, and that all young people can benefit from having the extra time to properly explore a subject so they can understand and enjoy it at a fundamental level, rather than just learning facts to pass a test.

Availability: Week nights: 5.30-8pm
Weekends negotiable.

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: I have an MSc in Science communication (distinction), and a BSc in Biology (First class from University if Bath).

I have over 10 years` first-hand experience of working as a research scientist. I have published papers in scientific journals and presented at international conferences. This means I`m in a good position to share the realities of a scientific career with students, as well as having good links for potential work experience, as well as tutoring. (I have good ties with Bristol University and studied for my undergraduate at the University of Bath.)

I have taught undergraduate and PhD students in the lab, and I have taught secondary school children through my role as a STEM ambassador - visiting local schools to talk about science, technology, engineering and maths subjects.

I have also worked as an exam marker for OCR GCSE Biology.

I am DBS certified.
