Hi there! I`m Josie and I offer 1:1 English tuition online for students in KS3 and KS4, including both school-attending and home educated students. I am passionate about helping teenagers build genuine confidence in English - whether that`s preparing for GCSEs or simply finding their love of reading and writing. I work closely with both students and their families to set clear short and long term goals and create tailored sessions that make real progress. I put a huge emphasis on building a strong working relationship with every student, so they feel comfortable, motivated and ready to take what they learn in our sessions into the exam hall and beyond.

Availability: I currently have some rare evening slots available and some morning and afternoon sessions on select days. I try to be as flexible as possible so please get in touch even if your specific day and time isn`t available as I may be able to sort something out for you.

Experience: I have worked in education for over 6 years, including as a private tutor, a teacher`s assistant in a Special Educational Needs school, and as a manager of a tuition centre. I now work independently, offering focused 1:1 online tuition. My SEN experience taught me how to truly listen to students and families and adapt my teaching style to suit each individua - a skill I find particularly valuable when working with teenagers who may have had a difficult relationship with English in the past.

I have extensive experience working with home educated students and understand the unique demands this places on both the student and their family. I have supported several home educated students over the years, including one student I worked with from age 13 all the way through to her GCSE English Language and Literature examinations - taking real ownership of her progress and curriculum journey alongside her family. I am currently working towards the same with two further home educated students. I am well-versed in planning long-term learning journeys, selecting appropriate GCSE specifications, and preparing students thoroughly for independent exam entry.

I graduated from Newcastle University with a first class degree in English, so literature, language and writing are subjects I am genuinely passionate about. My greatest achievements are when students come to me really struggling and leave with the skills, confidence and enthusiasm to succeed.
