Information about Khizar
Hi, Im Dr Khizar , an experienced tutor specialising in GCSE and A-Level Maths, Biology and Chemistry.
Ive been tutoring for several years, both one-to-one and within tuition centres, alongside experience teaching in schools. Ive worked with students across a wide range of abilities from those struggling with the foundations or lacking confidence, to high-achieving students aiming for Grades 89 and A/A*.
My teaching style is calm, patient and structured. I adapt lessons to the individual student and have experience supporting learners with different educational needs, learning styles, confidence levels and attention spans.
Im particularly exam-focused. Rather than simply going through content, I teach students how to apply their knowledge to exam questions, understand mark schemes, avoid common mistakes and consistently pick up marks under timed conditions.
Every student receives a personalised approach based on their current schoolwork, weak areas, target grade, exam board and upcoming assessments. Lessons typically combine clear teaching from the foundations with guided questions, independent exam practice, feedback and targeted homework.
I also support students with sixth-form and university applications, particularly Medicine and Dentistry, including UCAT preparation, personal statement guidance and interview preparation.
Ultimately, my aim is to help students become more confident and independent while achieving the strongest grades they are capable of.
Availability: I am currently available for regular tuition on weekend mornings (Saturday and Sunday).
I offer online tuition and can discuss in-person tuition depending on location.
I am happy to arrange a regular weekly slot so students have consistency throughout the school year. Additional sessions may also be possible around mock examinations and GCSE/A-Level exam periods, subject to availability.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: I have several years of tutoring experience teaching GCSE and A-Level Maths, Biology and Chemistry, both privately and through established tuition centres.
I have also taught within school environments, giving me experience working with students of different abilities and learning needs, including students requiring additional educational support.
I have successfully supported:
* Students aiming for Grades 89 at GCSE and A/A at A-Level*
* Students who have fallen behind and need to rebuild their foundations
* Students lacking confidence despite having strong academic potential
* GCSE and A-Level students preparing for mocks and final examinations
* Students requiring structured revision and exam-technique support
* Students applying to competitive sixth forms and universities
* Medicine and Dentistry applicants, including UCAT and interview preparation
My lessons are highly personalised. I consider the students exam board, target grade, school assessments, current topics and knowledge gaps before deciding what we should prioritise.
A typical lesson involves reviewing previous learning, explaining difficult concepts clearly, progressing through increasingly challenging exam-style questions and identifying exactly where marks are being lost. Students then receive targeted practice so that weaknesses are addressed systematically rather than simply completing generic worksheets.
Having taught students over several years, one of the most rewarding parts of tutoring has been seeing students progress in confidence and then hearing from them on results day when they achieve the grades and offers they had been working towards.

Khizar has helped my son structure his A level maths revision for his retake next year. He has also helped him regain the confidence with the subject that he lost when off school during the COVID lockdown.
