Information about Ahab
Hi, Im Ahab - a 4th year Medical Student and BMedSci (Hons) graduate from the University of Nottingham
I have delivered 335+ hours of online tuition and have supported 12+ repeat students. My reviews consistently highlight my clear explanations, patience, professionalism and ability to help students become more confident in their subjects.
I specialise in:
KS3 Sciences
GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics
GCSE Combined and Triple Science
A-level Biology
Selected degree-level biomedical sciences modules
My lessons are structured, individually planned and focused on achieving meaningful academic progress.
My approach includes:
Identifying knowledge gaps and misconceptions
Creating a clear plan around the students curriculum and goals
Explaining challenging concepts clearly and memorably
Applying knowledge through carefully selected questions
Identifying exactly where marks are being lost
Regularly reviewing progress and adapting the tuition plan
I aim to develop genuine understanding rather than short-term memorisation. As students progress, they become increasingly confident at approaching unfamiliar problems, explaining their reasoning and working independently.
- KS3 Science: I work primarily with students in Years 8 and 9, although I can also support Year 7 students where my teaching approach is a suitable fit. These years are important for establishing the scientific knowledge and problem-solving skills required at GCSE. For Year 9 students, tuition can provide a structured transition into GCSE content and expectations.
- GCSE: I teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics across both Combined and Triple Science. Lessons may be used to rebuild foundations, consolidate school teaching or help ambitious students work towards the highest grades. I place particular emphasis on application questions, calculations, required practicals, data analysis, scientific terminology and examination technique.
- A-Level Biology: I combine detailed conceptual teaching with targeted support in application questions, experimental interpretation, data analysis, synoptic links, mathematical skills and extended responses. Students learn how to recognise what a question is testing and communicate their knowledge with the precision required by the mark scheme.
I also offer selected degree-level support for students studying healthcare or related courses containing bioscience or biomedical modules. This may include clarifying challenging concepts, structuring revision, interpreting scientific information and preparing for examinations. Degree-level enquiries are considered according to module fit.
My sessions are particularly suited to students who value clear explanations, structured support, honest feedback and high expectations. I work best with students who enjoy a didactic approach, and are willing to engage during sessions and complete focussed work between sessions.
When contacting me, please include the students subject, year group, exam board, current and target grade, areas of difficulty and preferred lesson times. For degree-level enquiries, please also include the module title and learning outcomes. This will help determine how we can best work together.
Availability: Please see my availability table below for up-to-date availability.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have delivered 335+ hours of online tuition, including 220+ hours recorded through Tutor Hunt. I have taught students across KS3, GCSE and A-level, supporting them with Biology, Chemistry and Physics across a range of abilities and examination boards.
My experience includes helping students close gaps in their knowledge, prepare for important assessments, improve their examination technique and become more confident in applying what they have learned. I have worked with students requiring foundational support as well as ambitious students aiming for the highest grades.
At degree level, I have supported students on healthcare courses with the biomedical content of their programmes. Most notably, one such student went on to score 119/120 in their final exam. Please note, I consider degree-level enquiries individually according to the content and learning outcomes of the module.
My academic background includes:
Fourth-year medical student
BMedSci (Hons), University of Nottingham
Upper Second-Class Honours with a 69% overall average
A* in A-level Biology
Grade 9s across GCSE Science and Mathematics
I also have substantial leadership and mentoring experience. This has strengthened my ability to set clear goals, provide constructive feedback, adapt my communication and keep students motivated and accountable.
My medical training allows me to connect scientific ideas to meaningful clinical and real-world applications. This helps students see how individual topics fit together and can make difficult material more engaging and memorable.
