Information about Xuan

I am going to be studying Engineering at Harvard University! (but currently on a gap year because of the pandemic).

I have just finished my A-Level courses so the content is still fresh in my mind and I`m eager to teach students and share with them my love for the subjects! I secured a scholarship to Harvard, as well as an offer from Imperial and interview with Cambridge. Being young means I can relate to the students easily and in conjunction with my skills and techniques that are adapted to suit the student, I can push them to reach their maximum potential and more.

In my experience, the ones who do well have an actual interest and enjoyment in the subjects they do. My goal is to nurture and grow a mindset in them that welcomes challenges for them to struggle with, whilst also enjoying learning new things that will ultimately help them to solve those problems.

My lesson plans will cover their entire syllabus, while really keying in on their weak areas. I`ll detail the key information that examiners expect their students to know and test that knowledge once they`re comfortable with it. When they`ve fully understood and digested what I had just taught, then we move onto the next topic and repeat. I`m very patient with my students, but I`ll make sure they`re putting in at least 100% into what they`re doing

Experience: Before the quarantine:

My school asked me to tutor Y12 Physics students because they weren`t performing too well at the start of the school year. By Christmas, the six students I tutored all achieved their desired grade.

Impressed, my school also offered me the opportunity to tutor Y13 non-Further Maths students and struggling Chemistry students. Overall, I tutored a total of 13 students and after their time with me, everyone was a minimum of being one grade away from their target

Additionally, I tutored my cousin GCSE Maths and in a year, she went from a 6 to a 9 and was prepared to take the test in Y10 (if not for the coronavirus).
