I’m a passionate and experienced science tutor, specialised in teaching GCSE and A level Physics and Maths. I have been tutoring for more than 5 years, and have taught a wide variety of different students, ranging from 8 year olds to undergraduates.
My background is in Physics, and I have recently graduated from Imperial College with a first class degree. Studying Physics at university has given me an in-depth knowledge of the basic concepts covered at A level in both Physics and Maths. At university I was involved in teaching, and I have mentored at an outreach course for A level students and worked as an undergraduate laboratory demonstrator.
My main focus as a science teacher is on developing a student’s intuition for a topic. It is more important for me that the student is able to explain a concept in words, rather than being able to memorise formulas. As well as that, I have developed a very good understanding of exam technique and my students tend to do well in their GCSE’s and A levels.
I would describe myself as a confident and kind tutor, and try to build up a close relationship with the tutee. I enjoy the challenge of adapting my teaching to my student’s way of thinking, which can be one of the most rewarding things about teaching.
