Information about Alice
I am an experienced tutor, specialising in English Literature and Language. I love working with people and seeing students gain confidence as we work together.
I work on a student-by-student basis, and can adapt my lessons to suit students of different ages and abilities. I can help with punctuation, close reading, creative writing and spelling.
Most recently, I have worked as a university lecturer at the University of Cumbria. My tutoring experience includes preparation for entrance exams (verbal and non-verbal reasoning, comprehension etc), and GCSE and A Level support, or assistance with Nationals and Highers since living in Glasgow.
Most important to me is having clear communication between tutor and student, listening and supporting their work throughout the time we work together. This allows me to create an individually-tailored course of learning which will enable students to progress in the way most suitable for them.
I am also available to assist with UCAS applications and personal statements.
Availability: I am available evenings, weekends and during the day in school holidays if required.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have tutored throughout English GCSE, bringing my student from a C grade to an A and working on text analysis, close reading and essay questions.
I also have experience working through drama coursework and creative writing.
I have tutored throughout high school entrance exam preparation.
I am employed by the University of Cumbria as a part-time lecturer.
`Alice was consistently helpful, professional and reliable. There was such a difference in Tom`s work very quickly.` Tina Coburn.
`Could not be more pleased with the improvement Daniel has made in his English since Alice started with us.` Anita Greene.
I have a BA from the University of Exeter in English Literature with Drama and an MA from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Classical and Contemporary Text.
