Information about Robert

I am a PhD student in Theoretical Physics and non-equilibrium systems at King`s College London and hold both a Master`s degree and a bachelor`s of science in Theoretical physics from the University of Leeds with an 80% average; class 1.

I am happy to tutor in either maths or physics at any level including undergraduate for physics and am conversationally proficient in Italian and have a limited proficiency in French should English not be your first language.

I hold a Scouting DBS and am CRB checked. Valid for five more years.

Prices are negotiable but I will be charging in the region of:
£12 ph KS2
£15 ph KS3
£17 ph GCSE
£20 ph AS/A Levels
Up to £30 ph UG Physics

Availability: Very flexible until the 24th of September at which point I will have better knowledge of academic commitments.

Generally speaking, Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings are not workable but I can make exceptions on occasions.

Will happily travel from either the Strand Campus of KCL or from my flat in Greenwich depending on the time and date.

I will mostly be cycling to appointments and so I will not charge for travel expenses.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have worked as a free lance tutor in Stoke on Trent whilst sitting my A-levels. I had two tutees at the time at GCSE and year 6, the former achieved a grade C from an expected E and the latter passed entrance exams for their local Grammar School.

Have been a PAL (Peer Assisted Learning) mentor at the University of Leeds for three years where I would lead a weekly session for 10 first year undergrads in which we would attempt to solve problems or discuss underlying theory behind aforementioned problems.

I was also trained by the TutorTrust in Leeds, but had no active tutees due to my own time constraints during my Master`s year.

Rob rescued us at very short notice when we found him just a few weeks before yr12 exams. He fitted us in and arrived promptly and prepared and left us (well, my daughter) with a much greater competence and understanding of the subjects. We will definitely book him in for support next year

Robert has been an excellent tutor for my son who is studying A level physics. My son has found the A level syllabus very difficult but Robert`s enthusiasm and impressive knowledge of his subject has helped my son enormously. Robert is personable and 100 per cent reliable. He explains complicated theories so that they can be understood. I have no hesitation in recommending Robert to anyone.

Robert is a very friendly, polite, punctual and patient teacher. My teenage son is responding well to the lessons and his maths is improving. We would recommend Robert as a maths tutor.
