Information about James
Graduate-entry medical student at the University of Oxford and part-time Associate Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University. I recently completed a PhD in Bioengineering at Imperial College London. Prior to this, I completed a Master`s degree in Physics.
I have 5 years` teaching experience in physics, biology, and mathematics. I tutor A level physics, biology and maths, any science or maths subjects to GCSE, and preparation for medical school admissions and exams (BMAT, UCAT and GAMSAT). I also teach degree-level topics in engineering or physics.
My research expertise is in ultrasound imaging and therapy, and how ultrasound can be used in the brain to treat disease. I have a paper published as first author, and am co-author on three others, in the fields of ultrasound imaging, orthopaedics and nuclear medicine.
Availability: I can tutor online at evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have given over 300 tutorials to A level and GCSE students in physics and biology. During the 3 years of my PhD, I taught first-year undergraduates in courses including mathematics, physics, biology and computing. I also taught more specialist Master`s-level courses in biophysics and radiotherapy. As well as teaching, I also marked undergraduate exam papers and coursework. I was awarded Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in recognition of my teaching experience.
