Information about Nina
I`m a calm, friendly and experienced English and Biology tutor with a deep love of literature, natural sciences and the arts. Before graduating from UCL with a degree in English, I studied Biology at Manchester University and keep my love of science alive through reading journals and through tutoring Biology.
I also love writing and have previously published poetry, taught creative writing and edited a novel. In my current writing practise I take inspiration from both experience and a wide range of disciplines, including critical theory (particularly on race) to youtube videos, visual art, theatre, and the field of embodied cognition.
Availability: I am available on weekday evenings from 5.30pm and mornings 7-8am. Thursdays and Tuesdays are strongly preferred.
Willing to travel: 1 miles
Experience: I have over three years of experience teaching English Literature/Language and Biology from KS1 through to A-level to students across a wide range of backgrounds. I take an empathetic and responsive approach to teaching and work according to the individual needs of the student, fostering confidence and academic improvement. I work with each student to develop an overall study plan and develop more detailed lesson plans to achieve their aims, always allowing flexibility.
Recently I`ve worked as an academic tutor with Oxford Royale teaching advanced literature and creative writing to classes of students age 13-18. I facilitated workshops, seminars and classes and received excellent feedback from students and staff alike, consistently receiving top scores from senior-teacher led lesson observations.
Additionally I have worked as tuition manager with a top London tuition agency, which has given me excellent knowledge of the UK education system and the requirements of various exam boards.
