I am an experienced secondary Mathematics teacher with 13 years of classroom experience in a high-performing London school, where I teach both GCSE and A Level Mathematics. Alongside my classroom role, I am an examiner for Edexcel at both GCSE and A Level, giving me an in-depth understanding of the current specifications, assessment objectives and what examiners are looking for in students’ responses. This allows me to prepare students not only to understand mathematics but also to maximise their performance in examinations.

I firmly believe that every student has the right to succeed in Mathematics. A target grade or school set should never determine what a young person is capable of achieving. My role is to break down barriers to learning by making mathematics accessible, building confidence and helping students develop genuine understanding. I have worked with students of all abilities, many of whom have exceeded expectations and gone on to study A Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics and STEM-related degrees.

My lessons are tailored to each individual student. Rather than following a generic programme, I identify gaps in understanding, adapt my teaching to suit each learner and build strong mathematical foundations before developing more challenging concepts. I teach for understanding, enabling students to make connections across topics instead of relying on memorised methods. This is then reinforced through carefully selected exam questions and regular retrieval practice to ensure knowledge is secure and transferable.

As both a classroom teacher and examiner, I have access to a wide range of high-quality teaching resources, including exam materials, assessment questions and specification-specific content. I stay fully up to date with curriculum changes and examination requirements, ensuring every lesson is relevant and purposeful.

My approach is holistic. While academic progress is always the priority, I also support students in developing effective study habits, resilience and confidence. As a Post-16 tutor, I regularly advise students on A Level subject choices, university applications, UCAS, personal statements and pathways into higher education. I understand that success extends beyond examination results and enjoy helping students make informed decisions about their future.

Many of my students remain with me for several years, often beginning in Key Stage 3 or GCSE and continuing through to A Level. I value these long-term relationships and work closely with both students and parents to support sustained progress over time. My aim is not simply to help students pass an exam, but to develop independent, confident mathematicians who enjoy learning and leave with skills that will benefit them long after they have finished school.
