Through my experience as tutor, I have mentored many pupils with a range of different abilities. This has enabled me to adapt my teaching techniques to one which aids students in the most effective way. For instance, the aid of a simple diagram drawn with different colours to signify different areas may help the student gain a greater insight and increase their intrigue into the topic being taught. Other instances include challenging the students thought process, fostering a debate which develops their understanding. Furthermore, techniques like these aid my ability to summarise and convey complex concepts in a simpler manner.

My transition from a C/D grade student to an A grade student was not the smoothest and I experienced many difficulties along the way which included setbacks. Through failure, I was able to review areas room for improvement and grasp a better understanding of what each exam question required. In turn, my exam technique improved which meant my answers were more concise and focused. The struggles and pains of my experience allowed me to relate to most students, helping them address and overcome their key areas of weakness.

My nature of being a caring, amicable and of a positive disposition helps me develop and maintain an effective tutor-student relationship. This includes devising a structured timetable working around the students schedule ensuring it is coherent to the curriculum of the course .As well as, taking appropriate steps to remedy any miscommunications.

My duty as a tutor consists of planning and managing each session to deliver high quality teaching session in line with the student’s needs.
