Information about Emily

I am a passionate and engaging teacher, a King`s College London graduate in Spanish and a fluent Spanish speaker.

I am very enthusiastic about teaching. I am confident in my ability to assess need and ensure that all students have the ability to progress and reach their goals, often surpassing these.

Working with small groups and on a one to one basis with children and adults in many different educational settings has allowed me to understand the numerous difficulties encountered when studying a foreign language, and provided me with patience to support students to overcome these difficulties. I also recognise that it is a privilege to communicate in a language not native to us, and see Spanish as a powerful tool that can enrich the life of the speaker.

I am able to tutor primary and secondary school Spanish, along with adult Spanish for beginners, intermediate and advanced.

I am also certified CELTA TEFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher. I have significant experience teaching all levels of English as a Foreign Language in various countries and educational settings.
I am able to tutor all levels of English as a Foreign Language.

I am also able to tutor primary and secondary school level English.

Availability: Weekdays, evenings and weekends.

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: I have taught Spanish in a variety of settings. As part of my university year abroad and after graduating I spent almost 3 years in Mexico teaching English and Spanish to young children, which is where my passion for teaching grew. This was in both a one to one and a group setting.

In my final year at King`s, I worked at a secondary school in South London teaching Spanish classes as an intern. After graduating, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for Spanish, and subsequently a Higher Level Teaching Assistant for Spanish. I then began working as a Spanish teacher and taught ages 11-16. Whilst at the school, I ran Spanish intervention groups and Spanish enrichment classes to enable students to surpass their goals or enthuse about Spanish.

Over 50% of children in this school had a disclosed special educational need and thus I developed the set skills required to help children access the curriculum, to foster the love of learning which pupils need in order to achieve academic targets and to enjoy the subject or area.

I taught Spanish and TEFL at a primary and secondary school in Greece, to refugees aged 6-25. I taught classes of up to 30 students, and also on an individual basis with students who require more support. I supported students in reading, writing and listening.

I worked as an educational mentor for young newly arrived refugees in London, tutoring them in English and Maths.
