Music is an intrinsic part of one’s education and personal development; everyone has the potential to explore and enjoy Music – as a subject, hobby, or career. As a teacher, it is my joy to guide the student to become enthusiastic about the world of music - to play, create, analyse and to respond.
I have taught both in both primary and secondary schools in Ireland, England, and Zambia, and I have taught practical Music at a Yamaha Music School in Australia.
I help students gain a clear understanding of how Music works and teach them how to apply their knowledge when appraising, performing, composing as well as when answering exam questions & completing coursework. With a 100% pass rate at GCSE, A Level, practical and music theory examinations (over 25 years), I am confident in stating that when the teacher learns how an individual learns, progress and achievement will be the reward.

Experience: Teaching experience (25 years) - Head of Music in independent & comprehensive schools (KS3, GCSE & A Level), Senior Teacher in a Primary School (KS1 & 2 & GCSE Music, choral/instrumental ensembles, productions, exams), currently extra responsibility of Coordinator of Instrumental Music (teaching, organising all Instrumental lessons, practical & music theory exams, preparing for & accompanying exams & recitals)
BA Hons Music (majored in triple performance) & PGCE in Music Education
Grade 8 in piano, violin, voice. Also play viola, tenor saxophone, mandolin.
Toured with a choir in Ireland & Europe. Every year I train 240 Year 7 students to lead the Christmas Carol Service in a large Concert Hall.
Led seminars in `Developing Intrinsic Motivation in Young People` at International Schools of Zambia conference.
