Information about Montserrat

NATIVE TEACHER OF SPANISH

Thanks for looking up my biography! I’m Montse and I’ve been teaching Spanish for GCSE and A levels in the UK for the last six years at two outstanding and multicultural secondary schools in London. I love teaching tutorials, and I can help you to improve your GCSE and A-Level Spanish exam skills and improve your grades. I love teaching languages and recently I graduated as an ESL teacher of English as a foreign language for adults at Cambridge University. I can now confidently say that I have become an excellent classroom practitioner that has not only stemmed from the teaching received at secondary education in Gumley House School and St Catherine’s school in London. Recently, I graduated as an ESL teacher after completing the CELTA by University Cambridge at West Thames College with observations in the classroom and teaching online.

As you may have noticed from my application, I have accomplished 4 years of solid teaching experience in both Spanish and English at the “Gumley House School” in Isleworth, London. During this time, I have gained valuable experience in teaching both languages at key stages 3, 4, and 5. I differentiated lessons to cater to students with special needs and English as an Additional Language. I have liaised with the corresponding departments to track and ensure pupil progression. Whilst developing my subject knowledge further in my department, I have run booster sessions focused on exam skills for GCSE and a Spanish club focused on Spanish cultures.
I can now confidently say that I have become an excellent classroom practitioner that has not only stemmed from the teaching received at secondary education in Gumley House School and St Catherine’s school in London. Recently, I graduated as an ESL teacher after completing the CELTA by University Cambridge in West Thames College with observations in the classroom and teaching online.

I am passionate about making a difference in the lives of the students whom I encourage in their development both academically and personally. I always ensure that I try to go the ‘extra mile’ to help and support students to achieve their goals and I think excellent feedback from staff and students alike testifies to this.

I have always had a strong interest in the process of learning development in children with special needs and challenging behavior. Apart from the INSET courses in my schools to develop my own awareness as well as volunteering in English lessons as a teacher assistant supporting the learning of SEN students. I copied teaching strategies during this role from a senior teacher and enjoyed valuing opinions from my colleagues and positively contributing to new ideas and suggestions so that the support for these students was substantial. When teaching, I appeal to all children’s learning styles, whether they be visual, audio, or kinaesthetic. During this time, I learned the importance of using visuals, colors, questioning techniques, exemplifying, and modeling for students. Keeping a positive attitude always and refocusing the student`s attention helped me to establish good relationships with the students. I am now ready to take on a new challenge and I am confident I can make an impact and utilize many skills I have developed in my teaching.

Outside of this topic I love swimming and spending time with family.

Wow! Montserrat is a absolutely amazing Spanish Teacher. I am so glad we found her! My son really struggled with Spanish and he is now improving and is so much more positive about learning the language. Montserrat is enthusiastic and really encouraging. She understands what the child needs and has plenty of resources to help. She is reliable and always punctual. She gives lots of positive feedback but also understands where improvements can be made. I would 100% recommend her to anyone wanting to learn Spanish!

Tutors Response :

Thank you very much, Kush! This is great news! I am glad to hear that Camron is improving in his Spanish studies since we had the lessons. Camron is engaged in the lessons and shows strong interest to get to know how things work, he enjoys making critical thinking questions about grammar as he likes to predict the possible answers and solutions by himself or from examples. I observed he is a strong learner able to gain confidence with some practice and built a positive relationship with the language soon. I firmly believe he will achieve his target language goals with great exam results marks.
Thank you!
