Information about Alexandra
I`m Alex, 22, and a recent graduate from the University of Oxford. There I completed a BA in English at Somerville College, and went on to study an MSt in English 1700-1830 at Lincoln College, which I have just finished.
Despite having studied literature for the past four years, my interests and aptitudes remain broad. At A Level, as well as English Literature, I studied History, Music and Maths - all of which I have a continued passion for. Throughout university I have been a choral scholar (soprano) and active participant in Somerville College choir, and have also sang for the past 2 years with Oxford`s leading all-female a cappella group, The Oxford Belles. As well as this, I`ve participated in team sports, student theatrical productions, and a range of voluntary roles.
I`d love to find a few tutees who I can help make a real tangible improvement to whatever it is they`re working on at the moment. Having gone through the Oxbridge application process myself twice, I think I could particularly lend a hand to anybody currently putting together an application, whether that`s for university or anything else. Do get in touch and I look forward to hearing from you!
Availability: After an intense few years of study, I`m slowing things down and taking some time out at home with my family before I launch myself into my next chapter. While I`m here, I want to fill some of my time with a worthwhile and fulfilling pursuit, and, having tutored before, I think it would be perfect!
This means that I am extremely flexible, and can work to almost any availability as benefits my clients.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have varied experience of tutoring, both formally and informally. As the eldest child and with two younger siblings, I have been helping with homework, coursework and revision for years. While at college, I had a close friend who did not have English as a first language, and used to proof-read and help edit long written pieces of work for her.
In terms of formal experience, while at university I volunteered for a charity called Schools Plus, which aimed to tackle educational disadvantage in Oxford and the surrounding areas. I went into a deprived local school weekly and tutored children up to GCSE level, setting work, maintaining an effective study environment and helping to develop the pupils interest and passion for their subjects.
