I am friendly and approachable with an engaging manner. I am passionate about helping young people achieve their potential and understand the anxiety that can be wrapped up in studying at A level and learning a new subject. Through my tuition I can build confidence and assist my tutees both academically and socially.

Availability: I can do most weekday evenings or late afternoon on a Tuesday or Thursday or at the weekends. I can be flexible and would rather online tuition.

Experience: I have 18 years of experience in childcare and education settings, working in a range of schools and colleges at key stage 3,4 and 5; teaching RS and History at key stage 3 and Sociology at key stage 4 and 5.

I achieved A*s and As at GCSE and A level and a 2:1 Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Manchester in Politics and International Relations.

I have taught Sociology A Level for 5 years and have been an examiner and a Head of Department, achieving outstanding results and very positive feedback from Ofsted.

I have achieved all outstanding and good lesson observations and my resources have been shared widely. Students relish my personalised approach and human, humourous touch.

Through my experience in a range of social care and residential settings I am able to bring sociology to life and differentiate the curriculum. I pride myself not just on teaching content but also teaching exam skills and essay skills to enable students to structure their work and make sense of what is being asked of them, which helps them across all of their subjects.

I can teach the AQA and OCR syllabus, but AQA A Level Sociology is my specialism. I have in depth experience with the family,education, beliefs, crime and deviance and research methods and methods in context topics, but can also teach culture and identity; wealth, poverty and welfare and power and politics.

I will make our sessions informative and enjoyable and will ensure you get to those higher grades, providing a positive and supportive manner.
