Literature has been a passion of mine since childhood and from a young age, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher and share this passion with others.
I grew up in the United States but always longed to see the England that I read about in novels by Thomas Hardy and Charles Dickens.
After attending the University of Florida and receiving my BA in English Literature and MEd in Secondary English Education, I actually started my teaching career in Taiwan, where I spent five wonderful and educational years. Once that time was over, I continued my teaching career in England. At first I taught in a challenging school with challenging pupils, which helped me to truly understand the value of perseverance. It was from that school that I achieved my UK Qualified Teacher Status through the University of Southampton. Having QTS allowed me to move on to further exciting teaching opportunities such as at Tomlinscote School. After 6 years at Tomlinscote, I became a full time private tutor and that is where I am now.
I value tutoring privately because it allows me to realise my greatest passion: working with young people in a personal environment. One on one lessons allow me to truly appreciate the whole person, and to offer support and guidance that is impossible in a large classroom setting.

Availability: I am available daytime and evenings, including Saturdays and Sundays.

Experience: I have been a Teacher of English in Hampshire and Surrey secondary schools for almost ten years with UK Qualified Teacher Status for most of that time.Prior to that, I was an English as a Second Language teacher in Taiwan. I have a BA in English Literature and an MEd in Secondary English Education, both from the University of Florida.
