Lesson Information : Teaching English at a Primary level requires explaining the basics, exploring and understanding word types such as adjectives, nouns, verbs, etc is just small part of learning the English language. Another vital aspect of English is reading and comprehension. Through reading passages together, identifying key information and writing meaningful responses helps children to gain self-confidence in their own abilities. Group lessons allows for students to share idea`s, to be able to discuss their thoughts and get a judgement on how their peers perceive their opinions - however, all of this needs to be guided by an unbiased teacher. It would be possible to accommodate up to four pupils per group session at the location mentioned. Groups will be no larger than four, as i believe smaller class benefits individuals without making them feel isolated. Please feel free to contact me regarding setting up or joining a group session.

Lesson Information : Teaching Mathematics at a Primary level requires familiarising children with the current number systems and the four operations. Learning and being able to recall multiplication tables is vital for children if they are able to go onto grasping the topics such as fractions or percentages. It is expected that the brighter children go on to learn more challenging topics like algebra. Group lessons allows for students to compare their answers and check out each others working out. Very often, individuals learn best when they are able to identify their own mistakes and very quickly correct them. Some children prefer working in small groups as they do not feel singled out when working 1-2-1 with a tutor. Lesson Information : GCSE Maths is essential for all pupils to progress in their education. The class will consider pupils of all abilities and take into consideration the various exam boards. Class sizes will be a maximum of 4 pupils, allowing each pupil to receive personal attention whilst not feeling isolated. The class will be taken through key topics in the maths curriculum to ensure a sound understanding, before being given various exam questions to cement their knowledge. As the teacher, I intend to plan relevant lessons to aid each child`s weekly progress. Weekly homework will be given and collected the following week for marking. Lesson Information : The eleven plus exam lessons will include teaching English, Maths, VR and NVR from the very foundation - assuming pupils have never been taught such material before. Upon completing the initial teaching, pupils will be thoroughly tested using various entrance exam papers, these will include papers from both grammar schools and private schools. As pupils approach the summer holidays, tests will be aimed at just the school(s) each individual is applying to. Tests will be marked and constructive feedback will be given to pupils regularly to ensure they are constantly progressing and learning from their mistakes.
