Information about Paul

I have taught GCSE and `A` level history for over 25 years. Private tutoring can make a considerable difference as I am supporting one student fully building skills and knowledge to ensure the best outcome in exams. I teach many dedicated students but often they find it difficult to structure answers in ways that analyse and evaluate the question asked. This is particularly true with A level coursework especially when students must incorporate evidence into their assessments. I am a super-specialist on 20th Century German history including Weimar and Nazi Germany and post war East and West Germany. I offer late 19th and 20th Century Russian History and 20th C British History as well as the Tudors and the Stuarts and US history post 1850. My knowledge of the First World War is extensive and I have led Battlefield Trips to France and Flanders as guide as well as group leader. I taught warfare based courses at A level and the Cold War at both GCSE and A level. in 2014 I updated the online resources on the Cold War for Cosford Cold War Museum and I am currently developing GCSE resources for the Severn Valley Railway where I work in the education department. At GCSE level I taught Medicine and Health through Time and the American West for over 20 years as well as the Modern World course for students. I can also offer the Tudors here particularly Elizabeth I. I have had excellent feedback from the families of students that I teach and I regularly follow-up between lessons by proving further materials for students on areas they wish to develop. You may just be looking for a few lessons to revise or would like regular support, the best thing about private tutoring is that I am working for you and looking to meet your needs. I look forward to hearing from you!

Availability: September 2019. This is the time of year when students are entering new courses at both GCSE and A level and often need some support. I have vacancies for students for the autumn term and you should check for availability with me as I try my hardest to get students in whenever possible. I am tutoring full time and A level students seeking morning and afternoon lessons will be welcomed especially overseas students.

After School

Willing to travel: 20 miles

Very enthusiastic and professional teacher! Paul is always highly prepared for the lesson and gives the best content relevant to the topic. Paul is highly professional and I would like to say a big thanks to this amazing teacher. I struggled with A level history before, and I got a U in my Paper 2 AS history last year, with only 3 months of studying with Paul, my grade boosted up immensely, I got an A for my exam when I redid it in January! Paul has helped me tremendously with my exam technique, which I used to struggle with, and provided me with the best materials for my course. He is always ready to help, very professional and knows just right how to achieve the best grade possible. Thank You Paul!

Paul is a very talented and knowledgeable teacher who is very enthusiastic and clearly wants his pupils to do well and is committed to that aim. Our daughter very much enjoys his lessons and gets a lot out of them as he is a motivational teacher who is an expert in his subject. Paul spends a considerable amount of time over and above his allocated time to ensure that his pupils grasp a topic and is available to help by email if required, replying promptly. I can thoroughly recommend Paul as a tutor.

Paul has done a brilliant job supporting my daughter. He responded within a few hours to our initial enquiry, and couldn`t have been more friendly and helpful. This was even on a Sunday!
Paul`s knowledge on history (we were focused on WW1) is incredible, there didn`t seem to be anything he didn`t know without the need for looking up detail. A very passionate and knowledgeable history teacher who stimulates thought. Highly recommended.
