Information about Jemma
A passionate educator since graduating with a first class Honors and starting my own textiles craft business.
I began tutoring even whilst at university and supported students with their degree subjects in their earlier years.
As well as training and dedicating a lot of time to the teaching profession and my career, I began teaching samba drumming to local people! I became interested in the drums and within a couple of years had mastered them to a level where I could begin expanding a local drum band in the UK. This also led me to play the drums in Barcelona where I lived in 2015 and Paris is 2016.
After running a school trip to Africa, to support a school for disadvantaged children in Nakuru, I decided to travel and support the training of new teachers to create a sustainable network of teachers in the area. Currently I work for various charities and travel between countries to help with educational projects.
Availability: Very flexible.
Willing to travel: 50 miles
Experience: I ran a new Design and Technology Department in the UK and specialised in Textiles Technology, Food Technology and Graphic Products. I have experience with Product Design and Resistant Materials at KS3, GCSE and A Level.
I supported completion of coursework at GCSE level for Systems and control and have moderated for AQA and OCR courses.
My original link to D&T was fine art as I went to Art college and specialised in painting and drawing. Over the years this developed into textiles and the technology subjects. I now also teach iGCSE Art and Design to students all over the world.
