Information about Joshua
As a PhD student in the Structural Biology of HIV at The Francis Crick Institute, with a Master`s degree in Biochemistry from Imperial, I can offer a unique take on many issues that commonly arise for students. I studied Natural Sciences at Pembroke College, University of Cambridge. This course started very broad and so I have studied Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Cell Biology to degree level.
Availability: I am available seven days a week
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: With nine years experience teaching, my background is diverse. I have taught extensively on a one-to-one basis with students all the way up to degree level. In addition to my private work, I have also been employed by local schools to tutor struggling GCSE students to pass their exams a year early - all of my students passed with a C grade or higher. I have recently gained experience in teaching classes of A-level students core subjects and also given talks on applying to Oxbridge.
Rapid changes to national exams have caused many problems for students. Each year I ensure that I do the exams of each new course I teach and update myself on changes to each syllabus.
Students vary greatly in their needs and I am very quick to judge how to adapt myself to best suit their needs. I am proactive in my approach to teaching, talking through problems in a coherent manner and always checking that the concepts have been fully understood before moving on. If a student is required to pass exams, I can help with exam technique and how to harvest the most marks. I have a lot of experience with Dyslexic/Dyspraxic students and can help equip them with the tools to overcome this difficulty. Above all, I try to make the work as interesting as possible, with real life examples and introducing students to online resources that can make a daunting task that little bit easier to break down.
If it is appropriate, I can set extra work and mark it with useful feedback. I am also happy to look at school work in order to give more in-depth feedback than a school-teacher has time to do.

Joshua has really helped my son and continues to do so, he took him from an ungraded to a D grade in two sessions at AS level Chemistry. He is now working to get him to a higher level for his exams in May.
would recommend him.
