I am extremely passionate about the art form that is mathematics, which I believe is essential for valuable life skills, and I aim to invoke the same excitement in my students. My motivation to facilitate young people’s learning of maths stems from my own personal enjoyment of the subject from a very young age and observations I have made about people’s relationship with it. My pupils are well aware of my enthusiastic and energetic approach to teaching I believe this prepares them well to work. I have high expectations for all learners, stretching the more able and supporting those that struggle academically. I promote higher order thinking in a dynamic environment where students are not ‘spoon fed’ information but given the tools to discover and develop their mathematical ability. I encourage all my pupils to have high aspirations and not just to accept a mediocre attempt at anything and I use my passion to drive and to inspire, showing pupils they can achieve when they really set their sights on something.
