I specialise in one-to-one tuition in English Literature and Language `A` level.

I read English at King`s College London, where I obtained a BA Hons First Class. I also won the Merchant Taylors` Company Prize (for best second-year student in the Faculty of Arts at King`s).

Although I am not a recent graduate, I relate well to young people and really enjoy finding ways of getting them truly engaged in English literature.

I get particular satisfaction from helping less confident students to make the very most of their abilities and achieve their academic goals. For example, a student who had been sent to me after being failing A level English (ungraded). After four months` tuition she achieved a `B` at A level. (As this was quite a few years ago, she may well have achieved an A grade if examined now allowing for grade inflation.)

Experience: I have more than four years` experience of giving one-to-one tuition in English (mainly at A level, but occasionally at GCSE level). However, the increasing demands of my main career in publishing/communications meant that I regrettably had to give up tutoring over ten years ago.

I recently decided to switch to part-time freelance communications work, which means I am available to take on students again. I am up to date with the current AQA A Level syllabus.

Because I`m returning to tutoring after a lengthy gap, I`m happy to offer an introductory lesson free of charge.
