Information about Kimberley

Hello!

I am a qualified teacher of History with a First-class Honours degree and PGCE graded with Distinction.
I am currently studying for my Master`s in Education at Bristol university.
I am enthusiastic with a broad subject knowledge.

I offer A Level History tuition only.

I only teach the exam board AQA.

I encourage a methodical approach to the exam paper;; I will show you how to answer each question, step-by-step. Exams are a test of skill, strategy and rehearsal.

I teach on Saturdays only and each session has a duration of 1 hour.

What happens if I choose you as my tutor?

× I will create a booking on the Tutorhunt system for our agreed time and date
× You will receive an email asking you to confirm the booking and enter your payment details (please note: payment is only taken following your lesson)
× Once you have confirmed the booking, I will have access to your contact details
× I will email you my booking form and send a text confirming the time and date of our session
× I ask that you email the completed booking form no later than 48 hours before our tutorial. The booking form will ask specific questions about your learning needs and will allow me to create an appropriate and academically rigorous lesson
× I will email across a Welcome pack that will give details about how our sessions will work and tips for getting the most from our time together
× An hour before our tutorial is due to start, I will email across a Zoom/Teams invite, a short pre-session activity and lesson plan
× TUTORIAL - a mixture of activities, reading and discussion
× No later than 48 hours after our session, I will email across a summary of our learning and a post-season activity

How many tutorials will I need?

Although every student and tuition plan is unique, I generally structure my sessions around the exam paper;; my aim is to show you how to develop skills in answering the questions. Therefore, three - five sessions per exam paper is a general rule of thumb.

Do my parents have to attend our sessions?

It is your decision in respect of who attends your tutorial. However, from experience I have noticed that those students whose parents or guardians attend the first or last five minutes of the tutorials seem to benefit. We are all here to support you;; teachers, tutors and parents.

Can I contact you inbetween sessions?

Absolutely! You are more than welcome to email at any time or telephone between 8am and 6pm. As your tutor, I am available to support you not only during our sessions but if and when you need extra support. I am happy to offer advice on a variety of topics such as personal statements, UCAS applications, university choices, extracurricular activities, career signposting, additional support in the exam, funding for University, CV writing and much more!

PLEASE NOTE: While I will do my best to respond to urgent emails and phone calls within 24 hours, I am in lectures Monday to Thursday and might not be able to respond until Friday;; my dedicated tutor day.

What will I need to bring to my tutorial?

Essentials include:

× Pen, pencil, ruler, eraser
× A lined notebook
× Scrap paper

Optional but strongly advised:

× Three different coloured highlighters
× Two A3 sheets of plain paper
× Pack of Flashcards

If you think that I might be the right tutor for you, do get in touch! I would love to support you in achieving your learning and academic goals!

With warm wishes,

Kim

Kimberley has been exceptional in her delivery of virtual history lessons to my daughter and her knowledge of the subject area is vast. My daughter has really enjoyed the sessions with Kimberley and my daughter`s level of analysis and insight into the history topics being explored has improved significantly. Kimberley always emails relevant information/guides/lesson plans, prior to the lesson and her teaching style is creative and interactive. She has also shared really good examination techniques with my daughter and has gone through exam questions, demonstrating where marks can be gained. I have no hesitation at all in recommending Kimberley, she is truly a remarkable and very talented tutor. Ms shelah
