I am a twenty seven year old secondary school English teacher, trained through the Teachfirst programme. I have three years of experience working in an East London school where, on top of my normal teaching duties, I worked in the role of exam skills coordinator and Head of KS3 English respectively. I therefore have an extensive knowledge of the English curriculum, both old and new. Having taken three Year 11 classes through their GCSEs with outstanding results (every student in my class this year achieved their target grade or higher), my strengths lie in teaching exam skills for both the AQA and IGCSE exam boards. I have a real passion and enthusiasm for teaching English - especially creative writing - and enjoy reading widely in my spare time. Most importantly, I endeavor to make lessons engaging and exciting to allow students to make exceptional progress.

Availability: Term time week nights from 16:00- 18:00, Saturdays, School holidays from 09:00 - 18:00

Experience: I have over three years experience as a secondary school English teacher at a school that has recently been graded as `Outstanding` by Ofsted. One of those years I took on extra responsibility in the role of exam skills coordinator and I then progressed to the role of Head of KS3 for English in which I was responsible for re-structuring the English curriculum for Year 7, 8 and 9 to fit in with the demands of the new national curriculum. During this time I also completed frequent professional development training and delivered training to my department on both the old and new English curriculum.

I also have extensive experience of tutoring at school in the form of one-to-one English intervention sessions, after school exam skills classes and small group targeted intervention for students who are in need of extra support in English.
