Information about Kirsty

I am a qualified and experienced science teacher who is available for online tutoring.

I can conduct my lessons via Zoom Pro, using a smartphone and a laptop, allowing your child to see our work as we write, as well as our faces.

I currently work at an established secondary school in Sherburn-in-Elmet, North Yorkshire. I teach Years 7-13 with a mixture of foundation and higher ability classes. I have also worked in outstanding state schools in Humberston, North East Lincolnshire and in Richmond, London. I have tutored and guided students through their science GCSE and A Level courses by assessing their strengths and weaknesses. This allows me to tailor a program that suits their needs. I do not simply shadow what they are currently learning in school or do their homework with them. I use a range of resources, including worksheets, exam questions and text books to assist with my teaching. Through their tutoring sessions, I ensure that students gain a vast experience of answering exam questions, to help build their confidence.

I am a motivated, hard-working and creative science teacher, who is committed to ensuring that every young person comes first; is listened to; challenged and inspired. I am a strong believer in building a good rapport with my students. My support does not end at the end of each session as I like to reassure my students that I am always available whenever they need help; whether it is for extra work to do outside tutorials to embed their understanding or to help them with a science question they are struggling in with their homework. I also show my students where they can find helpful resources and videos that they can use to learn independently if they wish. I am available via WhatsApp/email in the week to mark past paper questions and answer any student queries. A lot of my students find it really comforting knowing that they can message outside tutorials to ask questions.

I am passionate about helping children progress, which I believe comes across in my teaching. My enthusiastic and warm nature allows my students to view me, not only as their science tutor, but as a role model, friend and ultimately someone who will take a genuine interest in their learning.

For an in-depth explanation on how online tutoring can be beneficial to you, your child`s life and more on how it works, please contact me.

I have lots of of references available outside of Tutor Hunt.
