Information about Ka Hei
Every tutor is a native Cantonese speaker, but I use a secret method -recordings- that has made the first steps of learning much easier.
I have also learned Spanish and Italian, currently learning Vietnamese so I understand what it takes to learn a new language.
With your consistent practice and my assistance, you will improve drastically.
I teach adults and children from 5+ years old.

Availability: Weekdays evenings weekends anytime

Experience: I put Cantonese into context and real conversation that you can apply, for both complete beginners and intermediate learners. Within conversation, I integrate the 6 Cantonese tones, so that you can apply and practice immediately with a framework.
My students would describe me as a patient, enthusiastic and conscientious teacher.
I design teaching materials according to what you need or want to learn. Examples include buying food in grocery store, asking for direction, buying tickets, etc. We can focus on grammar points or focus on practice speaking only.
Welcome students who are already taking courses and need pointer and further explanations. I love dissecting sentences and grammar, explain reasons for words choice due to different degree of formality. Also love explaining word origin when it comes to new vocabulary.

I have been around a Cantonese speaking family my whole life but was never taught how to speak the language but decided that COVID would be the perfect time to try something new. I have only been with Kahei for a few months and I was really nervous at first but I have learned so much. Learning a new language is hard especially over zoom but time passes by so fast and I always feel so good after my lessons with Kahei. He is an exceptional tutor and really promotes a comfortable environment to make mistakes and ask questions. I could not have asked for a better tutor.

Kahei was a supportive and flexible teacher. Our lessons were mainly based on conversation practice and new vocabulary. Kahei helped me plug gaps in my Cantonese and extend my conversational ability. Kahei was encouraging, friendly, and helpful throughout.

Ka Hei prepares his lessons very well and is thoughtful in his planning and delivery. He has very clear pronounciation and breaks down the sentence structure and meaning of what you are learning. The recordings are also very good too!

Ka Hei was a brilliant tutor and I really enjoyed having lessons with him. I was wanting to learn some Cantonese before I moved to Hong Kong and he made me feel at ease learning a new language. I was impressed by the way Ka Hei tailored the sessions to make it work for me. He also made recordings of vocabularly/conversations so I could practise in my own time.

Ka Hei is a fantastic teacher! Not only that he is passionate about teaching, he is also very patient and friendly. I am a Mandarin speaker who could not speak any Cantonese and I was nervous before attending my first class but Ka Hei was so friendly and I felt comfortable around him right away.
During the first class we discussed what I wanted to focus on as I only had a short time to improve my Cantonese before I moved abroad. I wanted to improve my conversational skills and we had 1.5-2 hour intensive lesson every time we meet. By the 3rd class we were already having basic Cantonese conversation. I was very happy to see such an improvement within a short time.
Ka Hei also provided audio recording for each sessions and this was really really useful for pronunciation as I could listen to it during commute. He is also a very encouraging teacher and would motivate me to study. During the classes we studied hard but we also laughed a lot. It was always very enjoyable which made me want to speak more.
Ka Hei created a very comfortable environment for a beginner like me to progress fast and feel confident in speaking Cantonese.
I would 100% recommend Ka Hei as a tutor without any hesitation!
