Information about George

Hi, I’m George. I hold a First Class Honours degree (BSc) in Computer Science from Newcastle University and am currently training as a computer science teacher at a leading independent school, concurrently undertaking a PGCE/QTS.

I thoroughly enjoy tutoring, focusing on Computer Science at GCSE and A-level, as well as Python programming at all levels, including adult learners.

I am very personable and build excellent rapport with students. Having faced my own GCSEs and A-Levels just a few years ago, I can easily relate to the pressures and challenges students in years 10 to 13 experience.

I conduct online sessions via Zoom, tailoring each one to the topics the student wishes to cover. However, it’s often beneficial if the session also reinforces the topic they are currently studying in class. In a typical session, we start with reviewing content and methods before applying what has been learned. As exams approach, the emphasis shifts to revision and exam technique.

I’ve found that some students specifically approach me for tutoring in Python, the programming language most often chosen by schools and colleges as an introduction to coding. I’ve been using Python for many years, from Key Stage 3 through GCSE, A-level, and during my undergraduate studies.

Thank you for taking the time to read my bio. I’m always pleased to answer any questions.

Availability: I always try to be flexible in fitting students into my schedule. So, it’s likely that I will have availability at some point during your preferred day(s).

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: Before tutoring online, I was in demand, tutoring the children of family friends through their GCSE Maths and Computer Science. Now, I thoroughly enjoy online tutoring, particularly receiving feedback from students on their improved marks/grades in homework and exams.
