Information about Lauren
It`s incredibly important that tuition and teaching is both purposeful and fun. Whilst I am entering my 4th year as a qualified teacher, I have worked in intervention for both SEN and non SEN students for 7 years. I pride myself on being an engaging and approachable practitioner, and believe strongly that the enjoyment and engagement of a subject is dictated by the strategies of the teacher. It is our job to ensure that students get the most out of their learning.
I graduated from the University of Manchester with a 2:1 degree in Social Anthropology. I am rooted in the social sciences, which is, I believe, the reason why I hold strong interpersonal skills and am able to create a strong rapport with students. It has also helped me to determine which approach is the most beneficial for the students I teach.
I qualified as an English teacher in 2019, but have worked as an English intervention specialist for 5 years in total. I am taking on the role of Literacy specialist this coming year to ensure that the reading and writing of students, especially those already at a disadvantage and further affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, are working at their age expected level.

I have tutored 1:1 and in small groups previously for English (GCSE) with my students achieving Grade 5, 3 grades above their expected.
