Information about Ben

When I was at school, I was one of those rare kids who was actually really interested in science. Many of my peers - then and now - studied STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects simply as a means to pass their exams without ever really gaining a wholistic understanding of how what we learn in one subject overlaps with many others, and how it all relates to the real world. While I can certainly guarantee students that their chances of passing their exams - and with a great grade! - will increase if you select me as your tutor, I always hope to also leave students with a greater understanding and enthusiasm for how important science is in our modern world. Tutoring enthusiastic students is always a privilege, so I`m always open to hearing from new potential students!

Availability: Weekdays - Evenings from 6pm.
Weekends - All day.
Also open to discuss more suitable times, to your convenience.

Please note: As private tuition is seasonal, my rates are also seasonal and dependent on availability. However, I am always happy to discuss long-term arrangements and other considerations.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: Having completed Bachelors and Masters degrees in Chemistry at the University of Cambridge, I am now studying for a PhD in Physics at the University of Oxford. I have tutored a number of students over the past four years, mostly in Maths, Chemistry and Physics from KS3 to A-Level. In addition I recently worked for three months directing a series of summer camps in Hong Kong for Chinese and Cantonese students, tutoring them in a range of subjects. Throughout these experiences I have demonstrated an understanding that every student is different, and every student deserves to benefit from a thoroughly prepared program of work. That`s why I like to offer a first session for free so that I can meet students, determine what their needs and aspirations are, and put together an overview of the tuition I`ll be providing - to be agreed with the student and their guardians - before we get started.
