I teach English at a secondary school in Leicester, working with pupils at Key Stages 3 and 4. As an Academic Mentor my focus is on one-to-one or small group tuition alongside full-class teaching. I support students to prepare for their GCSE exams as well as providing bespoke learning plans for any secondary students who need support with specific parts of their work.

I love my subject and I see it as a privilege that I can make a living from discussing and teaching it, and I run a book club at my school where we get to enjoy literature in a less formal setting. Some of my favourite works to teach include Macbeth and Jekyll and Hyde, and enjoy teaching creative writing as well. I hope that my enthusiasm can help my pupils to get as much enjoyment from English as I do.

I teach all areas required for the English Language and English Literature GCSE examinations as well as Key Stage 3:

*Writing speeches, letters, opinion articles etc.
*Language analysis

My approach is to encourage pupils to feel comfortable and confident, and to know that making mistakes is an important part of learning. I work with students to understand their specific requirements, set clear goals, and adapt tuition to their individual learning style.

Availability: I am available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and mornings or afternoons during weekends. I am available for face-to-face tuition in the vicinity of either Hinckley or South Wigston, and I also offer online tuition.

I have an MA with Distinction in Modern and Contemporary Literature from Birkbeck College, University of London, and a BA in English with First Class Honours from Staffordshire University.

I`m passionate about the subject, and excited about using my experience and enthusiasm for English Literature to help others to get the most out of their studies.
