Information about Ellie
I am an experienced teacher in Spanish and ESL and I love sharing my passion for learning new languages with others.
I currently work for a charity supporting young refugees with educational mentoring. I have also recently completed a Masters in Migration at the University of Sussex where I achieved a Distinction, after having graduated from Cardiff University with a 2:1 in both French and Spanish. I have gained wide-ranging experiences in teaching, from tutoring in Paris and teaching at a school in Northern Spain, and more recently teaching at a school set up for refugee children in Greece.
I believe that a lack of confidence is often the key thing that holds students back from progressing further in learning a new language, so my lessons aim to encourage and motivate students to push past this. I am naturally a very patient and calm individual and I am to create an environment where students can feel comfortable and at-ease to ask any questions they might have.
Alongside my work commitments, I am a keen cook and loves developing new recipes and cooking for friends and family - this culminated in an (unfortunately) early exit from BBC1s Masterchef in 2017!

Experience: I have gained several experiences in ESL teaching. During my Erasmus year abroad I worked full-time tutoring English in Paris. After this I spent 6 months teaching English at a school in Northern Spain, where I planned and delivered lessons. I also spent time teaching at a school set up for refugee children in Greece, planning and delivering lessons in English, Maths, Science, and Spanish. Finally, I spent a year teaching English to women from migrant backgrounds during a weekly workshop.
I have also gained experience in teaching Spanish, supporting students to develop their skills in preparation for GCSE exams.
