I love teaching and practising Graphic Design. I have a profound interest in how visuals and illustrations speak before there is sound. When solving problems my approach is flexible and creative. I love working with and teaching how to work within many different medias to come up with unique design solutions.

I am continuously curious and open minded, hardworking, enthusiastic, able to work with others, and organize my time effectively. With my responsive thinking, patience and sensitivity, strong self motivation and enthusiasm I am able to turn my experienced eye for design to any project. I have good communication and listening skills, a non-judgmental approach to life. I have the ability to gain trust and respect from people, and have a confident and positive outlook.

Availability: I have a flexible timetable as I am a freelancer and can discuss windows of availability to suit the learner.

Experience: I have 18 years of teaching experience within Art & Design with my specialism being Graphic Design & Advertising. i have taught level 3 and level 4 Graphic Design covering the subjects of Typography, Art History, Print, Digital design, 3D typography, illustration, Advertising, Graphic Design, Mixed media experimentation and Animation.

I can help students devise their own learning journey by managing time effectively to meet a deadline. I work through the design process - helping them to devise their own independent learning paths offering them strong points of research and focal points for their personal experimentation. I then offer them the opportunity to evaluate their experiences and review their final outcomes and evaluate the effectiveness of the design process. I support students applying for jobs and support UCAS applications for year 2 Foundation Degree students. I support students throughout their FMP and help them to devise, plan and manage their Final Shows.

I have experience of developing, establishing and implementing CAD to Degree students across many of the disciplines within Art & Design. . I deliver a high quality specialist introduction to CS6 mainly Illustrator and Photoshop to suit the independent learning needs of students. I provide one to one progress reviews with students embedding the appropriate skills and opportunities to develop techniques using technology and traditional image making processes.

I am experienced at using the UCAS system and can help students with their written applications and portfolio presentation. I have embedded functional skills within the curriculum and deliver the tutorial programme to enhance the learners journey. I have led students through local and national design competitions with many successful outcomes and enjoy connecting the real life experiences of the creative industries to a student’s academic journey.

As a practising Graphic Designer I am able to use my professional eye to guide a student through the real life issues we are faced with as designers and help devise problem realistic ways to solve them.
