Information about Ramanuja

I have a very warm approach to my students, gently encouraging all of them to participate in my lessons and create an atmosphere that is safe and conducive to learning in my classrooms. I also have high expectations of pupils in my lessons and design my resources to achieve these expectations. My practice includes teaching Science to year 7 - year 11(KS3 and KS4/ Combined and Separates) and practical lessons corresponding to the National Curriculum. I have constantly reflected on my teaching and practiced a range of effective teaching ideas, implementing them in my lessons and beyond the classroom (corridors, extracurricular activities, school trips). I have focused on inclusivity in teaching SEN, EAL and PP students to get the best outcomes for them by including scaffolding, translations and technical assistance (where required) for my students. I communicate proactively with the SENCo, TAs, pastoral teams and parents to teach each student in an effective manner. I set high standards for my students in terms of behavior and task completion in my lessons and understand that students face challenges outside school that they might carry in to the classroom.
I work with my colleagues in developing the curriculum in the school and bring to bear my extensive practical experience outside the teaching community – specifically developing the curriculum links to careers in science for KS3/ KS4 and KS5. I bring in a career linked practice so that students in my classroom understand the link between what they’re learning and future careers (e.g. efficiency calculations in physics and the connection to the quest for super conductivity among scientists). I aim to transfer my passion and knowledge in science to my students in all my lessons – leading them to ask more ‘why’, ‘how’ and effectively go up the steps of Bloom’s taxonomy triangle.
I have adapted strongly to teaching my Y10 students Physics, Chemistry and Biology online using Microsoft Teams. I have adapted my resources for online lesson delivery and created additional resources to help students work effectively remotely. I also tutor for some of my y8 students and I work with them to secure their well-being, improve their online learning and focusing their attention on the future – including pathways of study and careers.
