Information about Lucy
My name is Lucy, I`m 24 and I am a part-time tutor. I have a Bachelor`s degree from the University of Bristol, where I graduated with a First in Philosophy and German, and an MA from King`s College London in International Relations, where I graduated with a Distinction. From 2018-2019, I studied at Humboldt University in Berlin, where I learned a true sense of life in Germany which I hope to impart on students. I am half British, half Belgian, and grew up studying and speaking German, English, and French fluently in an international school in Belgium. Beyond helping students attain good grades in their language classes at school, I am passionate about teaching fun, informative, relevant, engaging language classes tailored to the individual student. I am available for English, French, and German classes for beginner to advanced levels as well as conversational classes. I also excelled in English literature at A-level, and so can help students with GCSE/A-level text analysis and essay writing. I am happy to teach online, travel to you, or host you at my flat in Stockwell, London.
Availability: I am available on weekday afternoons and most weekends.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: Over the past four years, I have separately tutored eight different students from the ages of 6 to 19 in Philosophy, English, German, and Spanish. I have helped students improve their marks by focusing on their individual needs and personalities. I set up teaching plans with a variety of resources, such as presentations, past papers as well as audiovisual media. I can help students with their revision skills and assigned work, and build up their confidence levels by speaking to them in their target language. I keep the sessions light and engaging and am always happy to build on any feedback I receive.

My daughter has just started working with Lucy on GCSE german. She`s finding the lessons are really helping her confidence with the language. Lucy is great at explaining tricky concepts and finding useful resources. I`ve found Lucy easy to deal with, always punctual and reliable.

Lucy quickly built a rapport with my 6 year old daughter who is keen to learn Spanish. I will also be having lessons fortnightly. I like Lucy`s gentle, child-centred approach and flexibility around lesson plans.

Lucy is lovely and has already helped my daughter feel more positive in her German lessons at school. She has a very good teaching technique which would benefit anyone. I would highly recommend her.

Lucy is an excellent tutor, I find she really helps me grasp concepts and further my understanding in A level Philosophy. She is clear, effective, as well as being kind and considerate. Lucy is always on time and is easy to talk to. I enjoy our tutoring sessions together and would highly recommend her as a tutor!
