Information about David
EXPERTISE plus "STUDENT AT THE CENTRE"
I am an experienced and knowledgeable teacher / tutor with a degree in mathematics from Oxford University. I have extensive expertise in teaching a whole spectrum of ages and abilities. Much more important than this, I thrive on encouraging individuals to have confidence and to achieve their very best.
I really enjoy building a rapport with all of my students. I get a real buzz out of seeing all individuals experience success in reaching targets and developing confidence in the way they tackle mathematics.
FEEDBACK Have a look
Before having a look at the programmes listed below, I would encourage you to read the feedback that has been left by families and young people with whom I have had the privilege of working.
INDIVIDUALISED PROGRAMMES
In the first few lessons, I work with each individual to come up with a personalised approach and strategy that will deliver the desired outcome. These are some of the programmes that I have used successfully with students at different levels over the years:
A. Programmes to boosting confidence and raise attainment
Good for those who find it hard to engage with mathematics or who feel they under perform in certain aspects of the subject and /or under exam conditions.
B. Programmes focussed on particular topics or achieving a target grade / level
Emphasis on practical revision and exam techniques, as well as the content and skills of higher level topics. Good for students requiring specific grades at GCSE or A Level.
C. Programmes extending and nurturing able mathematicians.
Often exploring beyond the constraints of the exam syllabus to stimulate interest or develop a greater appreciation of the subject. In addition, through over-lapping with the next level of mathematics, equipping the individual with higher level skills in preparation for tackling more challenging mathematics, whether it be at Key Stage 3, GCSE, A Level or University.
Obviously every individual programme will be a mix of some or all of these elements.
The following spells out the levels at which these types of programmes can be put in place.
1. SIXTH FORM STUDENTS
a) AS / A level Mathematics
b) AS / A level Further Mathematics
c) Oxbridge and University Entrance MAT and STEP preparation
2. GCSE STUDENTS
a) GCSE Pitched at different levels (4 6, 6 - 8, 8 - 9 etc.)
b) Extension: Aimed at iGCSE Further Maths or bridging / overlapping with AS Maths
3. KEY STAGE 3 STUDENTS
a) Targeted at basics skills or harder topics,
b) Extension: To stimulate and develop interest of able students
4. KEY STAGE 2 STUDENTS and SCHOOL ENTRANCE
a)+ b) As with Key Stage 3
c) School entrance
Nurturing individuals in preparation for specific School Entrance and Common Entrance Papers.

David was my 12 year old sons tutor for about 8 months. My son really enjoyed having David as his tutor and he was engaged throughout the lessons. His marks also improved over the time he was tutored. Thanks.
