Hello, I’m Yula, a London-based tutor with expertise in Art, Maths (Primary), Korean language, and Personal Statement coaching. I hold Master’s degrees from the Royal College of Art (Contemporary Art Practice) and UCL (Museum & Gallery Education), and I have taught in leading UK cultural institutions.

Subjects I Teach

Availability: Art Education:
Skilled in drawing, painting, mixed media, and portfolio development. I support learners from GCSE, A-Level, and IB to university applicants, as well as hobbyists and beginners. My lessons combine traditional skills (observation, composition, technique) with contemporary approaches, helping students develop strong portfolios, prepare for exams, or simply build creative confidence.

Maths (Primary):
Specialising in Key Stage 1–2, I help students build strong foundations in numeracy, arithmetic, problem-solving, and logical reasoning. I use step-by-step explanations, visual aids, and interactive exercises so that maths feels clear, engaging, and confidence-boosting — not just memorisation.

Languages:
Korean (All Levels): Fluent native speaker with experience teaching from complete beginners to advanced learners. I focus on:

Beginners: Hangul alphabet, basic pronunciation, core grammar, and simple conversation.
Intermediate: Sentence patterns, vocabulary expansion, verb conjugation, and everyday topics (school, work, travel, culture).

Advanced: Essay writing, discussion of current affairs, idiomatic expressions, and cultural context.
I use structured lesson plans, grammar breakdowns, conversation practice, and cultural examples so students progress naturally to fluency.

English (Basic/Supportive): I provide basic English tutoring for learners who want to improve grammar, reading, speaking, and writing foundations. My approach is supportive, using real-life examples, step-by-step explanations, and encouragement to help non-native speakers gain confidence in everyday communication.

Mandarin (Conversational): I can support beginner-level learners in pinyin, everyday phrases, and basic conversation practice, helping them develop a foundation for further study.

History & Social Studies:
Experienced in teaching key historical periods, social concepts, and critical thinking skills. I help students build clear timelines, structured essays, and analysis of sources, making the subjects accessible and engaging for younger learners or exam preparation.

Personal Statement Coaching:
I guide students through reflection, structuring, and drafting their statements to showcase their individuality, strengths, and goals. Together, we refine their writing so that their unique voice comes through with clarity and impact.

Digital & Creative Tools:
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Procreate, Zoom, Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, and other teaching platforms, allowing me to deliver engaging lessons both online and in person.

Workshop Facilitation & Public Speaking:
Skilled in lesson planning, group facilitation, and inclusive learning, with experience leading workshops in schools, museums, and galleries. Able to adapt content to suit a wide range of learners and contexts.

Experience: I have over 5 years of experience teaching and mentoring across schools, museums, and cultural institutions in London and abroad. I have worked with learners of all ages, from primary school to university level through roles at the Science Museum, Natural History Museum, Royal Opera House, and Goldsmiths. My teaching has included art workshops, portfolio preparation, personal statement coaching, and public engagement programmes. Alongside teaching, I am an exhibiting artist with experience leading talks, workshops, and residencies internationally.
