Hello, I’m Ana! I tutor Spanish and German online and in person to high school students in Scotland. I provide one-to-one tuition for National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher courses, as well as CGSE and A-Level. I have been tutoring since 2016 with excellent results and consistently receiving great feedback from happy parents and students. Whether you or your child are having difficulties with languages at school, “crashing” an exam, or perhaps just want to secure that A grade, you’ve come to the right place.

I am a Spanish native speaker born and raised in Spain. Furthermore, I have spent seven years in Germany and six years in Scotland, studying and working, so I’m fully fluent in German and English. I am currently based in Edinburgh where I have established myself as a highly rated professional tutor helping Scottish students get their best possible grades in Spanish and German.

While most of my tutees follow the Scottish CfE curriculum, I also tutor GCSE, IGCSE and A-Level, which are offered in some private schools in Scotland. Focusing entirely on secondary school students means I am always up to date with all aspects of the syllabus and the specific requirements of the SQA and other exam boards.

Availability: Currently I`m available for online lessons from Monday to Thursday in the after school hours.

Experience: I have four years of experience as a language tutor and an excellent track record of exam success. I’m proud to report that 80% of my students have achieved an A grade, with the other 20% achieving a B grade, regardless of the level they started at, and many of them have chosen to continue studying foreign languages at university.

Overall, I have tutored around 30 students from many different schools in Edinburgh and other parts of Scotland: James Gillespie’s, St Augustine’s, Trinity HS, Firhill HS, Mary Erskine, St George’s School for Girls, George Heriot’s, George Watson’s, Stewart’s Melville, Edinburgh Academy, Merchiston Castle, Fettes College, Dollar Academy and Ampleforth College, amongst others.

I truly enjoy working with teenagers and help them build confidence in their language abilities. In my lessons, I foster an environment where students feel comfortable, and allow themselves to make mistakes without pressure or judgement. I love foreign languages and I want you to love them too (or at least, not dread them!). I believe that every student is capable of getting a good grade in languages. In the end, it all comes down to understanding what is expected of you and developing a good exam technique. Often in school there is only limited time and that may not always be enough. As a tutor, I can help you with my tried and tested method:

• I identify the areas that are giving you trouble and I explain them to you in a simple and clear way, so you’ll understand them once and for all
• I cover all the essential content that you need for your course, repeating the important bits as much as needed until it sticks in your memory
• We work together on your homework and assignments making sure they’re always completed to a high standard
• We work with past and exam-like papers, honing exam technique until it becomes second nature, so on exam day you’ll feel totally prepared for it
