I have eight years of teaching experience and have been lucky to work with many wonderful children with a range of abilities. I am a friendly, approachable person and this is reflected in my teaching style. I find my students make the most progress when they work with me to decide what they want to get out of lessons and make their own attainable goals for themselves with my guidance. I therefore model my lesson plans on what I feel the child needs and will benefit from the most, working within their capabilities and talents so they can grow and learn within their comfort zone.
I have known Abigail for 4 years.
Abigail was recommended to me to start my daughter (then 8) learning how to play the guitar. Inspiring children to learn music can be a difficult task, but her ability to grab the attention of my daughter was outstanding. She nurtures enthusiasm and quickly develops this into ability, with fantastic results. Her communication skills with both children and adults is excellent, and I have always been impressed with her diligence and approach to work. She reads people well, and adapts her approach accordingly and appropriately.
Abigail is polite, honest and courteous, and I have no hesitation in recommended her skills to others.
I am happy to provide further information if required.

Availability: I have a flexible timetable and am free most weekday afternoons after school time and on the weekends.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I have been tutoring for several years and have experience teaching a range of subjects to children from the age of 5 up to 18.
I am a recent Philosophy & English graduated (Fist Class Honours) and am looking to teach the core academic subjects from KS2 up to GCSE level and A Level English. I have a passion for both my degree subjects and am grateful I have the opportunity to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with younger learners.
I also teach guitar and tailor my courses specifically to what my students want to learn, which tends to include anything from Justin Beiber to Led Zeppelin and everything in between!
I currently run an after-school chess club at Westdene Primary School. I love to teach chess but have found a drop in interest over the past years which I hope to change. Chess, when approached in the right way, is a fun, stimulating game which I feel can really help children develop good concentration and strategic skills. I teach a wide range of levels and have played nationally myself in the past.
