Information about Penny
Hi, I`m Penny.
I enjoy helping pupils develop their confidence and skills. I am friendly, encouraging and build on what pupils already know. I aim to motivate children by making learning fun as well as providing a challenge.
I took early retirement a few years ago and am finding tutoring one to one a refreshing change. I have just moved house and live with my husband and cat now that my 2 grown-up children have flown the nest.
Availability: Monday to Thursday- days and evenings
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: Over the last few years, I have tutored children from 5 to 11 years. Recently, I have mostly helped Year 5 & 6 pupils with KS2 SATS and 11+ preparation.
Prior to this, I taught in a local primary school for 14 years, mainly in KS1. During my 30 year career, I have had many roles working with whole classes, groups and individual children including the Home and Hospital Teaching Service which involved teaching children who were unable to attend school for medical reasons either at home or in hospital.

Feedback For Penny (3)
Penny has been coming for a few weeks to help my daughter with primary English. She is very patient but at the same time quietly assertive and encouraging. My daughter is also very comfortable with Penny. Whilst it is a little early to comment on progress, I am confident that this will be seen as Penny picked up on my daughter`s needs very quickly and plans sessions according to those needs. What I have seen in the shorter term is a very positive response from my daughter who is showing more confidence already and a different approach towards her work at school. Therefore, I would happily recommend Penny.
We have been very pleased so far with our experience with Penny. She engages Summer, and Summer looks forward to Penny coming each week.
