Hi I`m Steph,
I`ve been teaching A Level English for the last 12 years and have experience of GCSE during that time too. I`ve been tutoring A Level and GCSE English for the last 5 years, I know the specs inside out and this is my specialism. I am still a full time teacher, so I am familiar with classroom life, student progress and practical exam strategies and use these to support in the sessions.
I love my subject, to the point where I`m currently studying a Master`s degree in English alongside my teaching job, and means you will see my genuine enthusiasm and dedication for the subject.
As a teacher and tutor my aim is to make sure the student feels as secure as possible. It`s vital the student feels comfortable with learning and doesn`t feel concerned about getting things wrong to get them right. Working on small areas can make a big difference, and I like to reassure students by identifying key areas of focus that will help them with the bigger exam technique.
I have a calm, reassuring and practical approach to tutoring and I`m happy to be guided by the student in terms of content to help them overcome any obstacles and ultimately help them to achieve the best results.
I have a clear knowledge of the different exam board papers and assessment objectives, I`ve marked for both Edexcel and AQA and taught on both these specs for Literature and Language.
Availability: Weeknights only after 5pm
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I currently work in a college and I am the lead teacher, responsible for the planning and teaching of A Level English Language and English Literature on the Edexcel specifications. I have maintained excellent results for my classes. I am also very familiar with the AQA spec.
I have also taught combined Language and Literature, and GCSE English.
I have strong results behind me and I have pulled many tutees up in their grades and have been an examiner for different exam boards.

Stephanie is tutoring my daughter for A level English Lit and she is really helping with her understanding of the texts and exam technique, which has boosted my daughter`s confidence immensely and her grade. I would highly recommend Stephanie, without hesitation. She entails all the qualities we were looking for in a tutor and more. My daughter is doing A level English Language and Literature. My daughter has learning difficulties, so finding the right tutor was first and foremost in our minds. We were incredible fortunate. Stephanie teaches with passion and I noticed that my daughter was just as enthralled and engaged. My daughter loves Shakespeare. She is an incredible kind tutor who puts her students wellbeing first and foremost, the consideration and the length she goes. Her years of teaching experience, love for English and abilities was apparent especially as there were books my daughter struggle to get into. She used her magic so by the end she fully understood the storyline and character. The improvements became quite apparent for her teachers, her interaction and participation in her classes, with her new found confidence. Her vocabulary and knowledge of English, was par with my son. By the end, she was teaching her friends, as they were struggling. We will miss Stephanie greatly, she has stood by her side with her studies and most importantly with her wellbeing. As a parent, you can only imagine how highly we see her. So yes, I would easily with out hesitation recommend Stephanie
