Information about Tyrone

Hi there, I am Mr .

I am currently a full-time teacher. I am the Subject leader for Chemistry at my school. I can teach GCSE Chemistry, Physics and Advanced-level Chemistry.

I have an excellent track record with students getting higher grades.

My Advanced-level Chemistry students usually do well and get into their desired Universities. I have recently had some students obtain a university placement in Oxford and Cambridge.

My strength is building up good relationships with my students. So, I like to get an insight into their interest, hobbies and goals. The sessions are relaxed, calm and engaging. There is a strong focus on developing and progressing the student’s subject knowledge and exam techniques so they can confidently answer exam questions.

I offer VIP sessions (one-to-one tutoring) and Webinars (small groups of up to 5 students) online.

I live-stream and record my sessions. The recordings are sent to the students after the sessions have ended.

Resources will be emailed before the session for students to print off or use on their devices. For GCSE I like to use the CGP revision guides and workbooks. So it might be worth investing in these for use in our sessions.

I make the sessions engaging by getting the students to interact with me on my whiteboard through their devices (laptop, tablet or mobile phone), to share ideas and answer exam questions.

Students are given homework after the sessions to help reinforce their learning.

My teaching practice is rooted in educational research and this involves:
• Helping student access their memory better
• Engaging students in Metacognitive discussion.
• Creating Self-regulated learners

So a typical session would start off with a retrieval quiz. Then I will teach students the content they need to know. They will then look at some worksheets and exam questions to apply their knowledge. Here, we will discuss what we have learned and how we can apply what we know to the questions. I will also give them all the tricks, tips and techniques to answer the exam questions. Over time, the aim Is to get the student to self-regulate their learning by monitoring their own learning and consciously assessing whether they are using the right knowledge, strategies and techniques to confidently answer the exam questions.

I like to track the student`s progress with the use of spreadsheets to see how they are progressing towards their targets. This allows me to give you accurate feedback on their progress.

Due to my commitments as Head of my department, I tutor online only
