Information about Julian
Experienced and enthusiastic science tutor, all to GCSE, Chemistry & Biology to A level. My university lecturing includes Enzymes, Bioenergetics, Injury & wound healing, Interfacial Chemistry, Bioprocess separation & Biotechnology, Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering) and my research field is artificial skin.
As a Lecturer and researcher at the University of Oxford, I aim to share my experience and enthusiasm to help my students to succeed with their science learning and examinations. I graduated in Biochemistry at St Anne`s College Oxford and started research in surgical science at St Mary`s Hospital Medical School Paddington, then transferred to Imperial College School of Medicine for a PhD and post-doctoral project. I have latterly worked on the invention and development of an artificial skin biomaterial for burn injuries and ulcerations, as well as formal lecturing. An exciting aspect of this experience is that it brings different areas of science and medicine together, which is very creative.
I have a long experience of home tutoring and am glad to help students progress in their education to acheive their aspirations.
Availability: Flexible, weekdays, evenings & Saturdays
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I offer tutoring in GCSE Science and A-level Chemistry and Biology to support and complement school work during the course of the school year, and for more intensive exam preparation. I will also consider specific undergraduate tuition requests. I really enjoy helping to develop my students` enthusiasm for science and encouraging them to take their interests further.
People learn in different ways and good tutoring involves using the best learning strategy for each individual student. Working with each student`s strengths is important to build the knowledge-base and confidence needed for exam success. I
