I have been teaching for nine years, after completing a BA and MA in English, as well as a PGCE and QTLS. The teaching experience I have is quite unique. Coming from an FE background, I have taught literacy at levels covering both primary and secondary school skills, with my QTLS qualification covering all of the sectors of education.
I work with primary school children on their reading and writing skills, including spellings, school reading books and any homework they may have, as well as filling in skill gaps and stretching their learning.
I work on confidence as well as enthusiasm for the subject with all of my students.
I support GCSE students with their exam revision and techniques, note taking and study skills, and past papers, along with building reading and writing skills as necessary.
For all of my students I compile a list of aims and will share strategies for meeting those aims with the learners and their parents.
I believe learning must be active, purposeful and useful and design sessions with the learner at the centre. I work with learners as individuals and tailor my resources and strategies for each student. I encourage outside participation in learning activities by providing extension materials if required.
I also work with University students offering a copyediting service for assignments, dissertations and personal statements.
