Hi there!

I`m an experienced tutor of Japanese, specialised in adult learners who wish to communicate with native speakers. My approach is designed for busy adults who have limited time for studying and need to learn during the lesson. I always make sure to make learning a fun and engaging process, customising the lessons to the personal needs of my students. Depending on your aims, we will either use diverse sources for developing your speaking and listening skills for everyday life settings, or focus on grammar exercises and textbooks for academic purposes.

My students are learning Japanese for:

-holiday trips
-communicating with family and friends from Japan
-business and investing in Japan
-accessing their favourite literature or manga in their original version
-university and proficiency exams

I am a patient tutor, always adapting to your natural learning style and pace. I am also a PhD candidate in Japanese Studies with a long experience in the field. I have spent a lot of time living in Japan for research purposes and for visiting friends and colleagues from Japan. This gives me the necessary understanding of both European and Japanese cultures for bridging these two worlds. I am very flexible regarding schedule. Please contact me to discuss the best learning plan for you and find the hours fitting our mutual schedules. We can have our lessons at my or your home or work, or also at a quiet café in an area convenient for both.

Experience: I hold a BA in East Asian Cultures and Languages (with a focus on Japan) from the University of Venice, and an MA in Japanese Cultural Studies from the University of Leeds. I have been several times to Japan over the last years, where I have perfected my speaking, reading and writing skills with an advanced course at the University of Kochi. I am currently enrolled in the final year of my PhD at Birkbeck, University of London, researching Japanese subcultures as part of the Japanese Research Programme.
