I am an Engineering Graduate with over 18 years of work experience and have a passion for Maths. I have a slightly different approach to tutoring where I like my students to develop strong basic fundamentals before teaching them shortcuts to solve problems. My belief is that a firm foundation helps develop strong structures.

Availability: Evenings after 7 pm and Saturday and Sunday afternoons

Experience: My teaching experience has been sporadic having taught few children of friends and family including my daughters. I teach all science subjects at secondary and GCSE levels but especially enjoy Maths and Physics as they both are closely inter-related. There have been some good results at GCSE and A Levels and also competitions at national level including two top 50 finishes in GCSE and AS Physics challenges and silver and bronze in Maths challenges.

When I was a student, we were never provided formula booklets and hence had to learn all the formulas and associated derivations. I believe in learning the fundamentals and logic behind a law or formula because once I understand the same, I will not need to rote learn it. . This ensured that if I forgot a formula in the exam, I could go back to the basics and still be able to solve the question.

I bring the same approach to my teaching. This requires hard work from both student and tutor but leads to satisfying results.
