Information about Holly

In both A-Level Law and Secondary/KS3 English, online tutoring provides a crucial opportunity to pinpoint the root of a student`s confusion, whether it`s a legal principle or a literary theme and offer targeted guidance.

I am a trainee teacher who works at a secondary school teaching English whilst working to achieve my QTS and PGCE. My background in both English and Law leaves me well placed to tutor students for KS3, GCSE and A Level where I focus on ensuring that students not only have a strong understanding of the subject knowledge but also understand how to apply it in an exam setting to achieve top marks.

KS3 English:

KS3 English tutoring provides students with targeted, one-on-one support to help them master the core skills of the UK national curriculum and build a strong foundation in English. This includes analysis of literary texts, development of creative and non-fiction writing, and improvement of grammatical accuracy and vocabulary.

GCSE English:

Personal tutoring for Edexcel and AQA GCSE English provides bespoke, exam board specific skills and assessment objectives. Core topics covered include unseen poetry, creative/transactional writing both fiction and non-fiction as well as critically analysing Shakespeare.

A Level Law:

A Level law can be tailored to the exam specification of either AQA or OCR law. Key Modules covered include: The English Legal System, Law Making, Criminal Law, Tort Law, Contract Law or Human Rights Law (depending on your exam board). Classes focus specifically on subject knowledge and improving exam technique by writing well structured essays which critically analyse the law.

Degree Level Law:

Classes for the degree level tutoring as designed for students sitting the UK LLB. Tutoring focuses on the seven core foundational subjects: Contract Law, Criminal Law, Tort Law, Public Law, Land Law, Equity and Trusts and EU law. During sessions there will be a focus on how to conduct effective legal research, structure an essay to hit all criteria on your mark scheme.;

What do lessons look like?

All students get a free fifteen minutes at the start of their first paid for session where we discuss where they are, what they want to achieve out of tutoring and put in place a plan of action to help them achieve their targets. Alongside this, students have access to a variety of resources both in and outside of lesson meaning that they have opportunities to engage with content in a variety of ways and solidify what they have learnt. Finally I regularly offer opportunities for students to receive feedback and their learning is usually adapted to give them opportunities to improve on their weaker areas.

Alongside this I am happy to have discussions regarding university whether that be applying to study a degree or skills that can help students start strong in their studies.

Availability: I have some availability during the weekends.

I am also available for lessons on weekday evenings however, due to working in a school and these hours are limited to after 6pm.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I work in a secondary school where I teach both at KS3 and GCSE level English to a variety of students.

I am up to date on the latest research and practices concerning key issues that impact your child’s learning such as working memory.

I am a law graduate with a single honours law degree graded at a 2:1 from King’s College London. Throughout this degree I achieved a first class grade in several modules including a 10,000 word written dissertation.
