Experience: I have a 1st class MA Hons degree in Translation and Interpreting (French/German) from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, during which time I also studied at universities in France and Germany. Following my degree I spent a year working for a German translation agency, both in Leipzig (Germany) and Edinburgh, before setting up my own freelance language services business.
The translation, proofreading and tutoring that I have done over the past 8 years of running my own business has allowed me to gain a comprehensive working knowledge of my foreign languages of French and German, as well as perfecting my professional skills in my mother tongue of English.
In addition to my language skills, working with computer-aided translation software, handling IT/computing/automation/telecommunications-themed texts for clients and having to deal with my own IT issues whilst working for myself has allowed me to gain extensive experience in IT, which I enjoy sharing with others - particularly those who have not grown up with these technologies.
